Travel Information

The National Capital Region offers visitors many travel options. Three airports serve the DC area, as well as Amtrak.

Airports: The National Capital Region/Montgomery County, MD is served by three major airports:

• Reagan National (DCA)
• Dulles International (IAD)
• BWI Marshall (BWI)

RAIL
Travelers to Washington can take Amtrak to Union Station. For travel information, visit www.amtrak.com.

FROM THE AIRPORT/RAIL TO THE RACE HEADQUARTERS (COURTYARD GAITHERSBURG WASHINGTONIAN CENTER) VIA SHUTTLE OR CAB

Shared rides (shuttle service). Several companies operate shuttle service from the airports. Visit www.supershuttle.com and the airport websites for further information.

• Approximate shuttle fare from Dulles Airport is $33.00 for the first rider; $10.00 for each additional rider in party.
• Approximate shuttle fare from National Airport is $31.00 for the first rider; $10.00 for each additional rider in party.
• Approximate shuttle fare from BWI Airport is $45.00 for the first rider; #12.00 for each additional rider in party.
• Shuttles do not serve Union Station

All major car rental companies operate from the three major airports. Several companies also operate from Union Station.

Taxi service. Approximate cab fare to the Courtyard Gaithersburg Washingtonian Center:

• From Dulles Airport (IAD): 33 miles; $45.00
• From National Airport (DCA): 28 miles; $45.00
• From BWI Airport (BWI): 45 miles; $70.00
• From Union Station (Amtrak): 24 miles; $38.00

FROM THE AIRPORT/RAIL TO RACE HEADQUARTERS (COURTYARD GAITHERSBURG WASHINGTONIAN CENTER) USING PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION IN THE DC AREA

Metro (Subway): All events will take place in Gaithersburg, MD, which is located on the Red Line. View the metro website for more information on subway and airport bus service: www.wmata.com

• From National Airport, take the Yellow Line (U St./Cardozo) to Gallery Place/Chinatown or the Blue Line (Largo) to Metro Center. Change to the Red Line and take train to Shady Grove (end of line) and take Ride On Bus #54. You can also get off Metro one stop earlier at Rockville at take Ride On Bus #74.
• From Dulles Airport, take the 5A Metro Bus to Rosslyn. At Rosslyn, take the Orange (New Carrollton) or Blue Line (Largo) to Metro Center. Change to the Red Line and take train to Shady Grove (end of line) and take Ride On Bus #54. You can also get off Metro one stop earlier at Rockville at take Ride On Bus #74.
• From BWI Airport, take the B30 Metro Express Bus to Greenbelt. Take the Green Line (Branch Ave.) to Ft. Totten. Change to the Red Line and take train to Shady Grove (end of line) and take Ride On Bus #54. You can also get off Metro one stop earlier at Rockville at take Ride On Bus #74.
• From the Union Station Amtrak Station, you can go to the Union Station Metro Stop (in the same building) and take the Red Line to Shady Grove (end of line) and take Ride On Bus #54. You can also get off Metro one stop earlier at Rockville at take Ride On Bus #74.

Ride-On Buses are available from the Shady Grove Metro Station (bus #74) to the Headquarters/Lodging area at the Washingtonian Blvd./Rio stop. Use bus #54 from the Rockville Metro Station. Buses usually run about every 1/2 hour.
